Scientific Staff
Chris Harder, Ph.D. R&D Manager
Chris came to Spartan after completing his Doctoral degree where he studied metabolic pathways in Heart Disease at the Ottawa Heart Institute under Dr. Ruth McPherson. His experiences in microscopy and molecular biology have allowed him to coordinate the optical and biological components of our DNA analysis systems. Chris holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa and a PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Ottawa.
Martin Cloake, B.Eng. Mechanical Engineer
Martin is a member of the product development team, responsible for designing and implementing the core mechanical design of Spartan’s products. Martin has 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering. He as worked as an Opto-mechanical designer at JDS Uniphase, has managed production and NPI departments at Blinds-To-Go and has worked as an independent mechanical consultant. Martin holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University.
Kelly Jackson, Ph.D. Research Scientist
Kelly obtained her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Newcastle University in the UK, where she studied mechanisms of gene regulation of mammalian zinc transporters, under the supervision of Dr. Dianne Ford. She has been with Spartan Bioscience since February 2009. Kelly’s responsibilities include supervision of junior staff on the Spartan biology team and managing the development and optimization of new assays on the Spartan DX-12 instrument.
