Clinical Trials

Spartan Bioscience is collaborating with investigators on the following clinical trials:

RAPID GENE (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT01184300)

  • RAPID GENE study published in Lancet. Abstract.
  • Results presented as a late-breaking clinical trial at Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2011 Conference (San Francisco, CA). Presentation slides.
  • Randomized prospective trial of 200 cardiac stent patients (NSTEMI or stable CAD).
  • Point-of-care genotyping with Spartan RX CYP2C19 followed by prasugrel for CYP2C19*2 carriers completely eliminated high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HPR).
  • In contrast, 30.4% of carriers had HPR at 1 week on standard clopidogrel therapy.

RAPID STEMI (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT01452139)

  • Randomized prospective trial of 100 STEMI patients following cardiac stenting.
  • Point-of-care genotyping with Spartan RX for CYP2C19*2, *17, and ABCB1 3435 C>T alleles.
  • Carriers receive prasugrel vs. clopidogrel.
  • Estimated study completion date: March 2012.

GENE-MATRIX (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT01477775)

  • Randomized prospective trial of 4,000 cardiac stent patients.
  • Point-of-care genotyping with Spartan RX for CYP2C19*2, *17, and ABCB1 3435 C>T alleles.
  • Carriers receive prasugrel or ticagrelor vs. clopidogrel.
  • Estimated study completion date: 2013.
