IEEE Ottawa Names Spartan Bioscience Winner of the Outstanding High Technology Company Recognition Award
October 11th, 2016
Spartan Bioscience today announced it has received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Ottawa’s 2016 Outstanding High Technology Company Recognition Award "for developing the world's smallest on-demand DNA-testing system, enabling unprecedented portability and convenience."
The Spartan Cube is a PCR-based platform that fully integrates DNA collection, extraction, and analysis, with an intuitive interface that is easy to operate. In addition, the Cube goes from sample to result in 30 minutes, a fraction of the time compared to lab-based testing. For the first time, rapid DNA testing is accessible to everyone.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization and works to foster technological innovation to improve humanity. This award is presented to an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to science, engineering, and technology.
Paul Lem, M.D., CEO of Spartan Bioscience, says Spartan is honoured to be recognized by IEEE Ottawa as the winner of the Outstanding High Technology Company Recognition Award.
“It is an honour to receive this award from an organization as prestigious as IEEE as we work to bring the power of DNA testing to everyone,” says Dr. Lem. “The Spartan Cube is a revolutionary molecular diagnostics platform that will allow innovation in a host of fields, including infectious diseases, pharmacogenetics, and food and water safety testing. This commendation echoes the excitement we hear from our customers and partners.”
